Weekend in Smithfield

This past weekend we went up to visit my parents in Smithfield. CJ had a blast he got to see so many new things and he loved every min. The first night we got to go with my Dad's friend up the canyon and feed some wild turkeys. We got to see about 30 turkeys. CJ thought they were really cool and wanted to go right up to them and touch them. He didn't understand that the turkeys were wild animals and didn't know how to be around little boys. When we got back CJ took a walk with grandma and grandpa and they decided to make the leaves float down the water in the gutter. CJ loved doing that and he even thought he should go swimming in the water. He pants were all wet! After that we went to see Daddy's parents at their hotel (they came up for the weekend also) and we got to go swimming. CJ didn't like the water at first. It was really really cold. But once mommy and Uncle D were cold and done swimming CJ wanted to stay and kick his feet in the water. We pulled him away with the promise of a warm bath in the hotel room. He really liked his bath and he even blew bubbles! He doesn't like to put his mouth in the water and usually just blows the water from above but he was blowing really good bubbles. I was so proud of him.

The next day we played around the house and CJ played with playdough a lot! Granma had bought a fun factory and he liked making spaghetti, he just kept forgetting that he couldn't eat it. After dinner we decided to go to the park and play. CJ LOVED the slide!!! He would climb up the stairs crawl through a tube and climb more stairs up to Grandpa and then Grandpa would help him sit down and give him a big push (He kept getting stuck on the way down and we would have to crawl into the slide to push/pull him out) And then Grandma would catch him or pull him out at the bottom. He would squeal and run around to the stairs to do them again. He finally decided to try out the swings for a little bit and then we wanted to go see how the other playset was. We got there and it still had snow all over so CJ had a hard time walking and it was just really muddy so we decided that we would go back to the other one. As we were leaving I heard a HOOO HOOO HOOOO. I was so excited and asked my dad if it was an owl. He said that it was a great horned owl. It was really cool. My dad had told me that he has been hearing one in the evenings and I actually heard it. On our way back to the other swing set my dad started talking to it. It sounded like it was really close so I started looking in the trees. We finally figured out what tree it was coming from and looked and looked for it. Finally Daddy found it. We got to see it for a little bit and then it flew off. CJ was having so much fun looking for the owl that we didn't go back to the slide and decided we should just go home while he was distracted. And as we were walking up the the car Grandpa found the owl again. It was farther away but a lot easier to see the shadow against the blue sky. CJ was sitting on Grandpa's shoulders and they just looked at the owl for another 5 min. or so. CJ liked looking at the owl so much that when we got home he sat next to grandpa and looked at pictures of owls on the computer for an hour! The last two nights when CJ looks out the window he tells me that he can see owls in the trees outside. He even wanted me to make grandpa come down and talk to the owls. CJ had a lot of fun this weekend at my parents. He got to see so many new things and he got to be outside, his favorite place to be.

Helicopter

Sorry I haven't done any pictures in a long time. I'll try and get some more up. Monday morning we all got up and went shopping. On our way we past the hospital and the life flight helicopter was sitting there, so we drove past and showed CJ. He loved it! At the store we decided to look at toy helicopters for CJ and he choose a little one from Cars (it was actually a rescue helicopter so it was red and white just like life flight). Then my parents came down and we got to go out to eat. CJ was so excited about his helicopter and everytime he saw the hostess/waitress he would hold it up and say "copta copta". On our way home we drove past the hospital again to see if the helicopter was still there, and it was! This time we parked the car and got out to look at it. CJ thought it was really fun, he even got to see an ambulance drive by with flashing lights. We had lots of fun with my parents and got to play with them all day.

Outing

Today CJ and I went up to campus with Daddy to play while he had a meeting. CJ loved walking around and looking at everything. We walked up and down a lot of stairs. He was so funny because Daddy had told him to look for helicopters because there are usually a few and so we walked out of a building and they had some really big fans that sounded like helicopters and CJ was squealing and looking up in the sky pointing everywhere trying to find the helicopters. We weren't able to see any but he still had a fun time wandering around.

The Little Engine That Could

I wish I could remember a night that I didn't read The Little Engine That Could. CJ always gets to pick a story to read before he has to go to sleep and for the last forever he wants to read that book. The other night I forgot to put it away and the next night he was looking through all the books trying to find it. He knows what he wants and he will look until he finds it. :) The last three nights he has also wanted Goonight Moon. That is a good change I just wish that I could read other books.

I've probably said this before but CJ is really into trucks, airplanes, helicopters, and trains right now. Grandma was getting rid of her duplo train and so we got to take it home and CJ hasn't played with any other toys since. Every morning that is the first thing he gets out. He loves to build the track and then build the engines and try to hook them together. He hasn't figured out how they connect yet and he gets really frusterated when he puts them next to eachother and they don't just magically attach. It will be fun to see him be able to put the whole thing together someday.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

The Itsy Bitsy Spider is one of CJ's favorite songs right now. He was watching Barney with Daddy the other day and Daddy helped him do the actions to the song and he loves it now. He can do them by himself and it is really really cute. He also likes to do This little piggy, and he can do that himself also. My favorite part is when the little piggy goes weee weee weee all the way home, I always tickle him and then end at his nose and so now he always points to his nose when I say home. It is really cute. I can't believe how big he is getting. He is learning new things everyday.

I love you

~I have a few stories from today. First CJ and I went for a walk today to look for trucks and helicopters. On our walk we saw a couple of small trucks, a garbage truck, a few buses, two helicopters and an airplane. He loved going for a walk and looking for everything. I was so proud of him because he walked the whole time.

~We also went to see Daddy at work tonight and CJ loved looking out the window and watching the airplanes fly by. He got so excited everytime he saw one. It was lots of fun to see him point and laugh and just get so excited just to see an airplane.

~Daddy works at night so every night as part of our nighttime routine we call Daddy and tell him good night. And lately CJ has gotten really good at saying "night night" to Daddy but tonight he also told Daddy "I love you" It was so cute!!! And just in time for Valentines Day :)
